Our first Spring Sport Senior Recognition is Alex Johnson. Alex is a member of WCA’s Track & Field team and Football team. He is the son of Michael and Lucinda Johnson. His favorite memory is his very first meet. He says that he and teammate Nathaniel Pride were unsure of exactly what they were doing and ultimately did average in the meet, however, that is the memory that will stick with him. Coach Sunday says “I enjoyed how much fun Alex had with his teammates. I will miss his sense of humor, there was not a practice or meet that went by that he did not make me laugh.” Alex quickly improved from that first meet as evident by Coach Sunday’s favorite memory of him, “He set a personal best in the discus to win 2nd place, he ran me down to tell me!” Alex’s advice to underclassmen is to have fun with it. He says “Before you know it, your time playing sports at Westminster will be gone, so take some time every once and a while and just enjoy the moment that God has gifted you.” Psalm 23:4 is his favorite Bible verse. University of the South in Sewanee is the next stop for Alex as he has the privilege of playing football there. Wishing Alex the best in his college career!
