Kathrine Jernigan is a member of the Westminster Girls Soccer team. She is the daughter of Stephen and Frankie Jernigan. She has played soccer for a total of 15 years, with the last 6 years being at Westminster. Kathrine says that it is difficult to pick a favorite memory from soccer but this year was very memorable. “We made Westminster history by not only being the first girl’s team but also the first soccer team to beat JP2. This was a huge accomplishment for us and we fought for it as a team harder than I have ever seen the team fight for anything. While this year is not what we expected and definitely not what I wanted for my senior year it was full of wonderful memories and great achievements and I would not trade those for anything. I can definitely say my senior year was memorable,” she says. Her advice to the underclassmen would be, “know how proud and grateful I am to have been on a team with all of them and I know they can accomplish great things. They just need to remember to enjoy the game and each other. You can only go so far when you do things for yourself but if you work for each other and the glory of God you can go as far as you want.” Coach Noller says, “I will miss watching the way Kathrine takes on challenges, especially in match situations, by not shying away from 1v1’s. Kathrine, without hesitation, breakdowns the situation and takes it to the opposition, win or lose. Oh by the way, she typically shutdowns her opponent(s) … just a joy to watch her play in those moments!” Her favorite bible verse is Joshua 1:9. Next year, Kathrine will be attending The University of South Alabama to study photography. Good luck Kathrine!
