Nathaniel Pride is a senior on the Westminster Track and Field team. He is the son of Harvey and Bibi Pride. He was also a member of the football and basketball teams while at Westminster. “My favorite moment in Westminster Athletics was when football made the playoffs for the first time of my time in high school my sophomore year.” Nathaniel says. “In order to make the playoffs, we had to play at Madison County and beat a team that had two SEC commits. I remember in the third quarter of that game, we had to go on a long grueling drive, against the heavy wind in order to seal the victory. That drive covered about 90+ yards on the field. That game, the jubilation that came after, and the hard work that came before, proved that hard work and doing what is best for the team will always help you accomplish your goals. Since that game in the regular season of my Sophomore year we continued on to only lose 5 more games in my career at Westminster, three of them were in the playoffs.” His advice to underclassmen is: “Never be afraid of being a leader and always make sure to enjoy the good times and wins when they come. Try to enjoy the long grind of practices and cherish the time you get with your friends that play with you because the destination is only as great as the work you and your team put in together to make it happen.” Coach Sunday says that he will miss Nathaniel’s leadership, positive energy, and smile everyday at practice. Sunday says his favorite memory with Pride was, “finishing 3rd at Sectionals last season in the Shot Put to qualify for State. Also, his excitement to run the throwers 4×100 relay.” Nathaniel’s favorite Bible Verse is Job 23:8-10. He will be attending Rhodes College next year and will be a member of the football team. Good luck Nathaniel!
