Varsity Softball · Spring Sport Senior Recognition: Shelby Deerman

Shelby Deerman is a member of the Westminster softball team. She is the daughter of Marc and Renee Deerman. Shelby has played multiple sports while at WCA, volleyball, basketball and softball. Her favorite memory is going to the state tournament for volleyball this past season. Coach Richards (volleyball) says that Shelby’s competitive spirit in practice and matches is what helped the team achieve its success this year. Coach Talton states that he will miss her competitiveness and adds “Shelby’s little reactions when she either realized immediately she had not done something fundamentally sound and also at times having to calm her down a little bit and let it go.  We put Shelby in a demanding position and even with no experience played it very well and was an outstanding teammate and role model.” Shelby’s advice to younger players is “Appreciate your senior year because we didn’t get to”. Her favorite Bible verse is John 3:30. Shelby will be studying Computer Science at the University of Alabama this fall. Congratulations Shelby on all of your accomplishments and we can’t wait to see what your future holds!
