Zadie Lakin is the daughter of Russ and Theresa Lakin. She is a senior on the WCA softball team but has been involved with other sports throughout her life and serving as the manager for the Volleyball team for 4 years. “Zadie’s outlook on life is one of a kind” says Coach Richards. Coach Talton and Coach Richards agree on the fact that Zadie’s team first attitude to sports is one that will be missed. Coach Talton’s favorite memory of Zadie exemplifies this, “It is the game that ended up being after our final game of this season and Zadie’s high school career. We talked to them telling them that there was a good chance we wouldn’t get to play more this year and thanked the seniors for all their contributions. Zadie then said can I say something and proceeded to tell her teammates how much she loved them, was thankful for the opportunity to play softball with them and she looked forward to seeing their accomplishments in the future. Even in one of her final moments as a Wildcat softball player, it wasn’t about Zadie it was about the team.” Zadie’s favorite memory is: “Winning the Gulf Coast Classic my freshman year, it was great to win such a big tournament. We were all dead tired from being at the field all day, but it was so much fun.” Anyone that knows Zadie knows, she is always looking for the FUN in any and all situations! Zadie gives this to the younger athletes, “encourage each other in all situations. Whether you are winning or losing, always go out of your way to motivate and build up your teammates.” Coach Talton adds that he will miss not being able to yell at her anymore 🙂 Her favorite Bible verse is John 16:33. Zadie will be attending Auburn University in the fall majoring in Elementary Education. Her passion for life will certainly help her in an elementary classroom setting in the future! Zadie will certainly be missed on campus by many and we wish her the best with all of her future endeavors.
